My name is Sue Stewart and have lived and worked with dogs all my life. Starting as a volunteer at my local boarding kennels in Essex. When I left school in the 1980's I was fortunate enough to attend the world famous 'Bellmead Training Kennels', in Old Windsor Berkshire, where I studied all aspects of kennel management, dog care and grooming. After my year at Bellmead I worked in various kennels and a veterinary hospital, I even spent some time on the QE2 caring for the pets of the rich and famous.
After moving to the West Coast of Scotland in 2001 it was obvious that Mid Argyll needed a dog groomer, as friends and neighbours were travelling as far as Glasgow and Inverness to have their dogs groomed. So I picked up the scissors again and The DogRoom was created, The DogRoom moved to Achnabreac Kennels in 2007 when George and Louise Casey opened the much needed new kennel facility at Achnabreac near Lochgilphead. The DogRoom outgrew its little shed, and new premises were found in Lochgilphead, on the 6th May 2014 the new DogRoom open in Lochnell Street, offering Mid Argyll dog owners a convenient new shop and grooming facility including a D.I.Y dog wash. The shop has a wide selection of lead, collars, clothing and accessories for the posh pooch about town.
I have shared my life with lots of different dogs over the years, but poodles are my passion, a breed that I would never have considered owning, as a GSD and doberman fan I considered them too high maintance and noisy! I now have 4 of them and yes they are high maintance and anyone who visits the shop will tell you that they are noisy!
